FFVII Remake Switch 2 Port Is Naoki Hamaguchi’s First Nintendo Game

Nintendo and Square Enix released a FFVII Remake Intergrade entry in the Creator’s Voice video series, and in it Final Fantasy VII remake series Director Naoki Hamaguchi noted it is the first Nintendo game he worked on. While he also didn’t mention if other entries like FFVII Rebirth will appear, as they aren’t confirmed yet, he did mention the new console has “enough power to run” this remake series.

Here’s the exact quote Hamaguchi shared when talking about the Switch 2 version of FFVII Remake Intergrade:

“I’ve actually been developing games for 24 years. But this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to create something for a Nintendo system, and that’s very special to me. And the fact that it happens to be the Final Fantasy VII remake series, considering the original game gave me the opportunity to pursue a career in the games industry, makes me feel like it was fate.”

The rest of the Creator’s Voice video suggests there will be no compromises with this version of the game. Hamaguchi noted the team could “recreate Midgar with full specs.” He also said, “Since you can play Switch 2 in both handheld mode and TV mode, and it has improved technical specs, I felt it would have enough power to run the Final Fantasy VII remake series I was creating.”

Here’s the new Creator’s Voice video:

Final Fantasy VII Remake is on the PS4, PS5, PC, and will come to the Nintendo Switch 2, and FFVII Rebirth is available on the PS5 and PC.
